Nicholas Muller

Nicholas “Nick” Muller has been practicing in Colorado in the areas of general business law and energy law since 1968.  His expertise is in energy, financial regulations, real estate, and the formation, purchase and sale of businesses.  He has worked with large and small law firms, as well as being in-house counsel for major businesses and a leader in the energy field here in Colorado and on a national basis.

Nick is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of California At Berkeley Law School.  He then he moved to Denver and joined the Gorsuch, Kirgis law firm.  His practice has emphasized all aspects of business law, for U.S. and international businesses.  After several years with the Gorsuch, Kirgis firm he became Secretary and General Counsel for Gates Learjet Corporation, based in Denver at that time.  Then he became Vice President and General Counsel for Samsonite Corporation and then General Counsel for Gates Corporation for a combined total of twenty years. 

In 1986 he made a career shift to become of counsel with the Denver law firm, Conover, McClearn & Heppenstall, and at the same time became a managing partner developing gas-fired power projects at Brush, Colorado.  He has extensive experience in the development and operation of gas-fired, wind and solar power projects, and for the past twenty years served as Executive Director of the Colorado Independent Energy Association. 

In addition to founding this leading energy group, he also was a founding Board member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, the primary national organization for corporate attorneys, and was the first President of its Colorado Chapter.  Nick also founded the Corporate Internship Program at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and served as an Adjunct Professor of Law there for more than twenty years.  He is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association, the Board of the Rotary Club of Denver, the Board of the Colorado Health Foundation, the Joint Board for the HealthONE Hospital System in Denver, and the Board of the Short, Elliot and Hendrickson engineering firm based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
